John, who has more than 23 years experience in the industry, joined Bateman Engineering in South Africa in 1996, where he process managed the highly successful Scorpion Zinc project in Namibia. Since moving to the Group’s Australian operation in 2003, John has significantly increased the profile of Bateman’s solvent extraction (SX) capability.

John has extensive experience in operational and metallurgical supervisory roles on a number of South Africa’s leading mining operations, including Impala Platinum’s Mineral Processes and Lonrho Platinum’s Base Metal Refinery.

John has a BSc Honours (Chemical Engineering) from the Cork Institute of Technology in Ireland. He was awarded the Gold Medal for Best Student on completion of a Management Development Programme at
the University of South Africa’s School of Business Leadership.

Mike joined Bateman Engineering in 2008 as Chief Financial Officer of the Group’s Mineral Recovery division. He previously held positions that included Chief Financial Officer of Norse Air, and Divisional Finance Director at Super Group and Ster-Kinekor, as well as spending two years at Investec Bank. Over and above being highly experienced in financial management, he has experience in preparing companies for listings and negotiating project finance with many financial institutions, and was involved in developing and implementing strategies around new business initiatives.
Mike has BCom and BAcc degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand and is a registered CA(SA).

Jon Kock

Jon joined Bateman Engineering in 2008 as Project Director, Sub-Saharan Africa. He has 20 years work experience in a wide variety of roles, ranging from project and study management, project engineering and production management, through to process design and consulting, site construction and plant commissioning. His experience covers the hydrometallurgical, chemical, bioleaching, pulp and paper, and bulk toiletry and household products sectors.

Jon previously worked at Teal Exploration & Mining, Murray & Roberts Engineering Solutions and Bateman Minerals & Industrial in the project management field, as well as having worked in the operational environment for Anglo Platinum, JCI, Sarah Lee Corporation and Rössing Uranium.

Jon has a BSc Chem Eng from the University of Cape Town and is registered as a Pr Eng and Pr CPM.
